REVIEW: The Massage Company

Massage has often been considered a luxury. A treat. A one off indulgence for when we are craving some self care, but with the fast pace of modern life and the daily pressures that we are presented with, surely a solution that clears our mind and relaxes our body should be more of a necessity than a luxury?

The Top 5 Health Benefits of Massage:

1) Boosts Immune system

Massage increases blood circulation. It has also been shown to improve production of white blood cells which fight against disease.

2) Improves Sleep

Massage has an affect on the delta waves, which are the brain waves associated with deep sleep.

3) Reduces Stress, Anxiety and Depression

Massage lowers the heart rate, reduces cortisol and insulin levels, and triggers lasting feelings of relaxation and improved mood.

4) Eases Muscle Pain

Massage targets the source of the body’s pain via eliminating tense muscles. Massage also promotes circulation to the affected or injured muscles, which increases nutrients and oxygen to the damaged tissues.

5) Improves Posture

Massage can help get the body back into proper alignment and helps to correct the positions and movements developed over time as a reaction to pain.

I went to check out The Massage Company who have re-thought the way people should consume massage by bringing high-quality massage to the mainstream and making it a vital and routine part of a better and balanced quality of life.

“Most people assume that massage is expensive, and can only be done in a spa or a beauty salon but we want to change this perception by highlighting the health benefits and making it more accessible. We see a large volume of men coming through the door who may have felt uncomfortable in a female dominated beauty salon, and we also see a lot of couples/Mothers and Daughters coming to use our duo treatment room”

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the front desk with some questions about your reasons for taking a massage. Your massage therapist will be able to understand what you want from the session and identify any specific areas in need of specific attention.

You will then be taken to a quiet and comfortable treatment room where your heated padded bed awaits. Different treatments include: Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Swedish Massage, and Maternity Massage. You will also have the option to chose from the following upgrades: Hot Stones, Aromatherapy, Scalp Massage, or a Fantastic foot Treatment.

I went for a Swedish Massage with Aromatherapy. From the second I lay flat on the heated bed, I felt relaxed and comfortable. My therapist was very informative when explaining the process, she advised that she would only uncover the area of my body she was working on, meaning that my modesty would be protected at all times, and she would regularly ask whether the pressure was ok.

The massage itself was amazing. I could almost feel the tension evaporate from my body and it made me realise that I couldn’t remember the last time I made a conscious effort to stop and relax. I am very busy (who isn’t?) and as a single Mother setting up my own business I have been stressed, sleep deprived, and at times rather moody, but after my massage I felt like someone had pressed the reset button. I felt recharged and ready to tackle my duties from a different perspective. A focussed one. Any overwhelm seemed more manageable as I was able to priorities my responsibilities whilst feeling relaxed, meaning I was more productive.

The verdict? I shall definitely be making a conscious effort to make time for regular massage to maintain my physical and emotional wellbeing. The Massage Company offer a convenient solution which includes a flexible membership option, and they are open 7 days a week making it an accessible way to enjoy good value, high quality massage services that fit around your life.
